The Weight of Words

It's been almost a year since Heroine Films started and a lot has happened. I've been posting updates in communities from time to time, but today as I was sitting here thinking about everything I realized it says something about my, our, generation. Everyone always says that we can't get behind a cause...that we are too coddled and too lazy to do anything. But I've seen something completely different.

Not all of you know the whole story, so here it is in nutshell form:

Heroine Films is a production company started by three women. Mel wrote a script which won the New York International Film and Video Festival, at the time it was called "Heroine". In it's most recent form it is "The Gladdest Thing". Before there was ever such a thing as this production company we were supposed to make this film. We had a cast, a crew and most of our financing. Then we held a reading and to make a long, painful story short some influential people found out that the main character is a lesbian. We are in North Carolina. Our financial backers gave into pressure and pulled out. So we lost everything.

A year later, Alex, Mel and I were sitting around trying to figure out what to do. How could we get enough to make it? That's when the idea of grassroots struck. There are people who believe in women making art, there are people who believe that a lesbian voice should be heard. There are people who believe in the passion of doing what you believe in at any cost any way possible. So we started a website, made some t-shirts and undies and hit the blogging communities. And we were STUNNED. In the first week we had so many hits we had to get a bigger website to keep from shutting down. We got donations and letters from all over the world. Including sweet high school girls giving what they could from after school jobs and heartbreaking letters from parents of LGBTQ kids who had been put through hell. These people want to do something...want to change something. Some of you who are on my friend's list now I met b/c you were one of the many who touched our hearts and made us cry with your support. It's been beyond incredible. We even had a lesbian screenprinter donate her services to us. And we quickly made a trailer to help attract investors and show the people supporting us what this could be like. An example--if this is what we can do on borrowed equipment with no crew and almost no money imagine what we can do when we are able to make the film.

Now we have been lucky enough to get a great deal of the funding from a combination of donations and a production company that has put up a large portion. Not all of it yet, but enough that we are confident that finding the rest is more than possible. We have an article coming out in CURVE magazine next week and we are in talks with LOGO about a marketing strategy on their new network. We aren't where we need to be yet but we are so much farther than we thought we'd be when we lost it all...and our hearts and spirits couldn't be higher. My life will never be the same because I now know that people believe in what I'm doing and want to hear the story we are trying to give a voice. I have even more passion because I know I am not just doing it for me...as cheesy as it sounds...I'm doing it for young girls and young LGBTQ people everywhere...to show that you CANNOT silence us.

As some of you read in burnandshiver 's journal, the Heroines are trying to restructure...

Here's the lofty version of things:

When I first moved to New York, I was struck with the realization that I had come home. I moved there to help an SVA fourth year rewrite her thesis script, do a rewrite on my own (the Gladdest Thing, then called Heroine) and to work for the Visibilities the Lesbian Magazine. Little did I know that what I would find in that city was my life, my love, my passion. I took it with me when I left and have had an immense longing to return to the city ever since.
Before I left, I picked up a book at the STRAND, a little tattered $5 copy of Christine Vachon's Shooting to Kill (if you love independent cinema and want to make movies - read this book. it will remind you why you love it.) I'd since lent the book out, never to be returned.

Our last stop in the city (on this last trip) was to the STRAND. When I loved (this is a typo, but I do enjoy a good Freudian slip) there, they boasted "8 MILES OF USED BOOKS". It now stretches on for 18 MILES. I was lost in the dust and the grime and the history of words embedded in crushed paper. I searched the isles in the FILM/TV section, only to find that I was too short to reach the really good books. So I stood there peering up at the stacks, glimpsing biographies of the greats, the how-tos, the why-not-tos and there I saw it. This bright baby blue binding screaming out at me. I waited for the store clerk next to me to leave. It seemed like hours before he stepped off his ladder and walked away. I grabbed the ladder and climbed quick, grabbed that bible and went on a search for Amanda (who was lost in the Civil War History section - don't ask...).

She says she gets to see what I must have been like as a kid when I get excited over funny little things (my new Swiss army bag, the palm pilot she got me for Christmas, a fancy new cell phone - luxuries I only get every once in a while.) When I rounded the corner, I must have looked about five years old. She laughed at me and asked what I'd found. I held up Christine's book and asked if we could leave! ;)

We had been driving off an on for about 72 hours. We'd stopped to see Nan and the fam. and were back on the road again to get home for the Second Cinema Interview (oh how friggin' glamorous we are lol. In reality, we were exhausted, grumpy and just plain foul smelling). It was about 9:30pm and I was sitting up front with Alex. I had my gadgets out before me: the new bag open and ready, with the perfect cell phone and palm pilot slot, the swiss Army embedded legal pad, just ready to write what came to me, but there was nothing. Alex and Amanda were doing yes/no riddles and I was too tired to think.

The great thing about the new bag is that there's a handy slot for a book. I reached into the compartment and pulled out Shooting to Kill fingered the smooth cover and remembered how I'd felt the first time I read it back before I had knowledge, back before I'd made any films of my own, back before I knew what a DP was or what an Associate Producer really does and just who that Alan Smithee guy is anyway. I started reading. By page seven, I got excited again. I asked Alex and Amanda if I could read aloud and they appeased me.

"The movie I remember most from those early years is Parting lances, a superb-looking gay drama made for a few hundred-thousand and released in 1986."

"Hard as it is to believe, there weren't many models at the time for a micro-budget movie with a gay theme shot with money the Director had raised himself. (Bill would stop shooting when he ran out of funds and start again months later.) Some of the financing came from gay men -- five thousand dollars here, ten there -- who wanted to see their lives depicted on screen for the first time. (Some investors got parts in the movie in exchange for their money.) "

"He said, "Okay, I've got an apartment, I've got friends who can act," and he made a movie on his own terms. The tremendous pitch-in attitude he inspired is still, for me, the essence of the independent scene---even though it isn't present as much nowadays, with so many low-budget films being shot and so much competition for talent."

I stopped reading for a moment to catch my breath and could virtually hear their brains ticking. All was quiet and then there was a huge, soft mismatch of our voices (as is the case when we've come up with something.). We were throwing around a lot of "why-nots"...a lot of "why didn't we think of this before"s Of course we could get the equipment, the cast, the crew. We could change locations. Shit, we shot the trailer for NOTHING and it turned out pretty well. There ARE grants out there for finishing. We've just got to get this thing made. It's our baby. We have people that want to see it, people who've helped us get this far, have put there their tips out there, their babysitting money, their "savings for a rainy day" out there. We HAVE to make this movie.

We talked and started planning for the next few hours of our drive. I scribbled a little budget on my brand new legal pad. Amanda offered to help crew as well as act in the film (something which I hate, but love her for offering), Alex was already giving me a list of names of people who we could borrow equipment from and ask to crew for us.

We have a budget and a business plan and proof that we can make this film and sell it. We've gone about everything the right way thus far and we still managed to lose our funding over "content" in past. We scratch and claw and try to sell the film and thank everyone who's helped us along the way and we still don't have the capital to get this thing made. Or do we?
You've told us you like the trailer, can't wait to see it, would take all your friends and your family to see it, moms have written to say thanks for trying to make it, they've offered to cook for us and put us up; oversees, you've shown your support daily, Curve showed it to their crowd at the 15th Anniversary and Diane says it was a smash, the script won at a huge festival, we've got name people reading it and press and all the support in the world...so why isn't this film getting made?

We struggle with it daily, but have come to realization that it's us. WE have to make this film, no matter what the cost.

So...here it is. I'm rewriting the budget. We are collectively searching out grants. We are going to start pulling favors. We will do this on the simplest terms. We will define deferred and when it sells, will pay back every single penny owed on the deferred and make more films of this caliber. And we must...because it's in our blood. We must because we all started in this business for the same reasons. We must because Christine Vachon and every independent filmmaker like her says it can be done and it will. This is art. In time and space and in our blood, this is our art and we only want to share it with you.

You've all been so supportive and generous and along the way we've made good true friends out of most of you (though we've never met face to face). I said something in the interview the other night for Second Cinema (you'll see it in NC and broadcast on the site in July) that finally hit home for me and I want to share it.

I said, (in so many words) So many people have helped us try to get this film made and this is no longer just our project, it's all of yours. I want this to be your film. I want your name in the credits, so you can say, "I helped make that film." And I truly believe that.

So, we're calling on you again, our supportive friends and family.

- Help us spread the word about Heroine Films: tell your friends and your family, your neighbors and strangers on the street.
- If you know anyone who would be willing to donate equipment and time (and love), please send them our way.
- If you know of any grants for glbt/women filmmakers (or any old grant will do), please send them our way.
- If you live in NC and want to donate your services, please contact us.
- And again, if you know anyone who can cough up a couple hundred thousand, we'd like to do make this film the easiest/best way possible, but will settle for the hardest/best way. ;)

As of right now, we're going to try to start shooting The Gladdest Thing in October 2005 after we wrap on the feature, The Dog Days of Summer, if all goes well.

Heroine Films - bi-monthly update!

PRESS -
The Executive Editor of CURVE MAGAZINE has gotten in contact with the Heroines and has expressed interest in doing a story on our project. Diane Anderson-Minshall, the EE went a step further for us as well...she just took the Gladdest Thing trailer and our pitch to Curve Magazine's 15th Anniversary Fest at the Portland GLBT Film Fest and is pitching it for us THIS WEEKEND!!! We're shocked, amazed and can't wait to hear about what's happening. We'll update you all on the article for Curve as soon as we have more info.

And here at home...NC's Second Cinema is a television show that was created to showcase Independent Film & Video from Producers in the Triad region of NC. Second Cinema has contacted the Heroines to request an interview and will show the trailer and the interview on their show which will run for the entire month of JULY!!! We'll hopefully be able to broadcast a copy on the website, so that our peeps outside of NC can see it as well. We're pretty excited and Second Cinema has been amazing thus far. Check out their website for more info. on times and channels.

ALSO - The Heroines will be attending the MELISSA FERRICK concert here in Carrboro, NC on May 26 at Cat's Cradle. We'll be in our Heroine T's,so stop by and say hey. And support an amazing artist --- Melissa Ferrick!!!

HERO/INE OF THE (BI)WEEK
You may recognize our latest & sexiest Hero/ine of the Week, Ethan Silverman from our trailer...Ethan is a wonderful actor from NC...He not only hooked us up with our biggest location for the shoot, he also put his gorgeous mug on memorex for us and now girls all over the world are swooning ;) We love you, Eth...and tell your mom thanks for the amazing donation!!!

PROSPECTS
Unfortunately we're not able to say who, but we wanted you all to know that at this point in time, a Creative Executive for a major Cable Network has expressed interest in the The Gladdest Thing Project. She is reading the script and looking over our Production Plan as I write this.

On the same note, an amazing actress, whom Mel originally wrote a part for has just gotten in contact with the Heroines and has agreed to read the script. Keep your fingers crossed on this one...it would make our year if she likes the script...

FYI
The Heroines are going into Pre-Production on another feature that is being shot in August. Amanda will be acting in the film, Mel is Line Producing and Alex is Production Manager on the show, which is called The Dog Days of Summer, a Tamiami and Film Foundry Production. The feature already has domestic & foreign Distribution and Theatrical Release. So you'll be able to see us up on the big screen sometime next year (or in Blockbuster) ;) We'll still be updating and working on Heroine Films stuff, but will be a little less present for a couple of months...Write to us though...we love talking to you all...

GEAR
The Heroines have worked out a deal with Mel Wall, our amazing screenprinter, for new shirts and a new logo. Thanks to an amazing donation by VICKIE HANNAH, we're able to get a new logo and new style. So we'll report back as soon as we have the new gear in. We still need pics of you in your gear to post, so send them to INQUIRIES@HEROINEFILMS.NET!

Send your congrats to the Heroines...Amanda just graduated from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill last week and Alex just finished up at the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking. First off, thanks to everyone who commented about the PHELPS Protest. It's good to see everyone putting their two cents in.

Second - CURVE MAGAZINE IS DOING A PIECE ON HEROINE FILMS!!!!! Also, Ms. Diane Anderson-Minshall, Curve's Executive Editor is taking the Heroine Films Trailer and Promotions to the Portland Lesbian & Gay Film Festival which is honoring Curve's 15th Anniversary!!!! We are floored, quite frankly.

Third - SECOND CINEMA is showing the Trailer and will interview the Heroines. The interview and trailer will be aired and broadcast for the entire month of July. We'll try to have it up on the site for those of you who are not in NC. For those of you in NC, we'll post times/channel as soon as we have them!

This Friday, May 6th, 7-7:30pm the anti-queer hate mongering preacher
Fred Phelps will be protesting the play 'The Laramie Project' at the
Durham School of the Arts. He has received a permit to protest only on
the sidewalk in front of the school, not on the school grounds or
anywhere else. Therefore, it will be extremely easy to block him and
his message of hate.

The Laramie Project tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a queer man who
was beaten to death in Laramie a few years back.

Phelps has been preaching his message of hate for years. He runs the
websites godhatesfags.com and godhatesamerica.com. Check those out for
examples of his disgusting hate-filled messages.

Come to the Durham School of the Arts at around 6:30pm on Friday to take action against this man! DSA is 400 North Duke Street in Durham,
opposite the West Corporation Street corner. Bring noise making
devices, banners, puppets, and anything else that may come in handy.

There will be an event at Duke University East Campus starting at 1pm
and going until near the protest time.

Hey all:

I just wanted to tell everyone about the new gay TV Channel, in association with MTV, LOGO.

Check it out...we're so excited that MTV continues to be progressive in an attempt to create creative spaces for glbt art/media.

Heroine Films - bi-monthly update!

HERO/INE OF THE WEEK - This week's hero/ine is the one and only WAYNE CRAWFORD! Wayne is an amazingly talented actor/director/producer and took the time out of his busy schedule to help out us in the filming of the trailer! We just wanted to say thanks... You're the best Wayne!

PRESS & PACKAGES - If you missed it in the last update, the DTH did an amazing article on the Heroines and you can read the article here - DTH - Heroine Chic.

We've been working overtime to get press kits/Production Packages out. So far, we have one with Ellen Degeneres, Frontier Media, Wolfe Video and we're still pushing to get in touch with Ms. Rosie O'Donnell's agent to see if we might get the script to her for consideration as one of the leads - Main character, Kate's mom - Marlene.

High up on the list as well is - Guinevere Turner - You all know Guin from Go Fish, American Psycho and most recently, the L WORD. The Heroines have sent off a query to Ms. Turner's agent and are awaiting their reply.

We've also just submitted to the Sundance Institute's Writer's/Director's Lab, so keep your fingers crossed on that one!

LIVE SHOWS - The heroines will be speaking and show the trailer all weekend at the UNC Variety Show - at the Caberet in the Student Union, April 22-24. Check us out and stop by to chat! We'd love to see you there!

Quick update:

The heroines attended the Women's Word/Women's Voices event at UNC- Chapel Hill and had an amazing time watching the other artists perform and promoting their trailer. Thanks to all who donated for shirts and the overwhelming response to the project. We were absolutely touched and loved being involved. You're all fabulous!!!

Hi All, from Heroine Films...

Melanie has compiled a letter in support of Heroine Films geared toward GLBTQ Businesses in an attempt to get the business community involved in the Heroine Films Fundraising efforts. If you know anyone who is GLBTQ and owns a business (or not) that might be interested in our grassy roots, please give us the heads up! We'll be sending out letters in the coming weeks for donations!

I will be posting the letter on the site in the next week or so, if you need a copy to shop around.

Well, here's a lil' update for you all:

It's been hectic, but of the good variety...

Curve Magazine called...they may be interested in doing an article. On the same note the Head of the Writer's Network in NC wants to do an article about Heroine Films (possibly for curve)!!! This is big! You may just see Heroines in the press pretty soon! So anyone who wants to drop a note to Curve (letters@curvemag.com) and tell them you'd like to see an article about Heroine Films, that'd be greatly appreciated!!! wink wink - nudge nudge

We're getting A LOT of amazing feedback on the new Promo Trailer and we so appreciate the support! Thanks all!

We'll be doing the Womyn's Art Show at UNC - Chapel Hill on 4/1. Stop by to meet the heroines and see the trailers. More info. available as we get it in...

We'll be meeting with a glbtq producer/distributor next week sometime to discuss the project. When we have more info. we'll let you know. But we're really excited about the opportunity!

Mel at Bread & Butter put together the most amazing letter for us to approach GLBTQ owned businesses for their support, so if you know anyone who would be interested in investing, let us know!!! inquiries@heroinefilms.net

On a side note: the Heroines will be working on the up-and-coming studio feature, the Dog Days of Summer in July, so we're going into prep on that as I write this. YAY!

Hi All, from Heroine Films...

I know we've seemed a bit nonexistent for the past few days. We're still here! Just getting the Promo Kits together for Distributors and doing some finishing touches on the Promo Trailer!

* THE TRAILER
As a lot of you know, we've finally released our “teaser” trailer for your viewing pleasure!
The Promo Trailer is cut (THANKS, SEAN!!!) and we will launch it on the website hopefully by the weekend!!! WE STILL NEED YOUR FEEDBACK. This new promo trailer will be used to entice Investors/Production Companies/Distributors. So please check back at: www.heroinefilms.net for updates. As soon as the new one launches, we'll send out e-mail notification!

PROGRESS REPORT – Heroine Films has been approached by a Distributer interested in buying the finished film. We are right now trying to get enough of the production funds together to begin prep and shooting. We will be using this new information to approach investors/distributors and REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!!! We need hits, we need donations, we need your thoughts/opinions...all information gathered from the site goes into a nice neat lil' business plan that Hollywood (and beyond) will be reading to try and determine if we're worthy of production funds...so please help us out and spread the word. You all are doing an amazing job and we so appreciate the support...

All Equipment, time, cast and crew donated their services/hours to us. We filmed it in three days over the weekend of 2/18 in Winston - Salem, NC & Chapel Hill, NC. Check out Wayne Crawford from the film Valley Girl! and of course Ms. Amanda (who is absolutely amazing in the trailer!)...

Thanks to all, for your love and support over the past few weeks. We so appreciate it. You all got us through our (21-30 hour) days!

So if we can pull this off with NO MONEY, imagine what we can do when we have a production budget!!

It's crunch time for us now. We're trying to build a base of support and donations to approach distributors and we need your help!

Well, what can we say...the Cuntry Kings Show went well. We lost our audio, but the 200+ crowd of queer folk loved the trailer!! Yay! It was nerve wracking and exciting to finally show it to a live audience.

We're cutting together the promo (a longer version) of the trailer this week and we'll be launching it early next week, so check back for that. We're also going to be releasing pages from the script in the coming weeks and have updated quite a bit on the site as we've brought cherrae stuart on the team! Cherrae, you rock!

The Heroines will be showing the trailer to small audiences in the coming weeks. First we're hoping to get in to the next CUNTRY KINGS show in Durham, NC on March 12, 2005 (this weekend). DRAG IT IN, DRAG IT OUT - This event happens the second Saturday of every month. It's a community oriented show, where YOU can sign up to perform (drag/genderqueer performance, music, spokenword/poetry, dance, et cetera). Please bring your music in CD or vinyl format. Sign up between 9:30-10:15. Doors open at 9:30, show starts at approximately 10:30. Dance party with DJ Mothersbrothers post show. Cost is $3, $4 or $5 (sliding scale). Shows are non smoking, however, smoking post performance is OK. All of the shows are at the Basement on 1102 Broad Street in Durham, NC. WWW.CUNTRYKINGS.COM

WELL....

The response to the trailer has been overwhelming. We reallya appreciate everyone's amazing support! We've had some great feedback and it seems people really want to see our lil' movie ;)
So...we're cutting a longer more detailed "promo" trailer which we will release in the coming weeks. This Promo, which we will then include with our business/production plan, and will be used to approach distributors will be similar to the "teaser", but will deal with the story more.

THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOU!

In order for us to convince the distributors that we have a film that a lot of people want to see, we have to show them numbers and responses and donations firgures. We've received so many over the past month, but we need more! Not to sound like blogger whores, but WE NEED YOU!
We need hits on the site and more letters/e-mails. So many of you have stepped up and been so supportive, some of you on a daily basis (Jessaustin, Ali, Kaite, Beth)...and we so appreciate the constant support. What we need is for everyone to tell all their friends and family what we're doing.
So...look for updates! We're continually changing/adding to the site and trying to make it as user friendly as possible...so hit us up with feedback if you have it.

hate crimes - nc

A student was attacked at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (where we live) for his sexuality. They broke his nose and gave him a concussion. He was followed down the street before being mauled while his attackers screamed at him using derogatory slurs and people stood by and let it happen...

Now we have this freakin survey by the local news b/c NC doesn't deem it necessary to protect the LGBTQ community from hate crimes (they don't much like lesbian films either)...and apparently some citizens are fine with that.
Please help change the survey results.

So, Amanda, Alex and I have been cutting all weekend and we're SOOOOO excited about the trailer!

It looks awesome, even if I do say so myself! ;)

We should be getting the final cut in today and we can't wait for the launch tomorrow!

It's been a looong ass few days and I'm ready for this trailer to come out. We've had so much support and love from all over the world and I just hope that we can deliver... ;)

I feel great about the trailer AND we just received great news that heroine films is going to be advertised on all the major search engines (besides Google) by next week!!! YAY! We've got a few people writing articles about us that we'll try to get published in the gay press (girlfriends, curve, etc.), so we'll see how that goes.

I just want to send my love to:

TAMI T. in LA for your constant support and love! You rock my world grrl! Can't wait to see you in a couple of months!!!

And Marni T. in NH (my oldest and dearest friend on the whole world)...you amaze me! Thanks so much for putting the word out and hooking me up with so many cool people. You're amazing and if all goes well, maybe we'll see you in NH soon when we're filming!

Filming and this whole bizness is tumultuous to say the least...I wish I could explain all that is going on in my/our heads...it's crazy, but wonderful and I can't wait to push on...

taking care of bizness

I wake up every morning and answer wonderful e-mails and letters, then go off to the day job where I deal with inconsiderate people who just want to complain because their so unhappy in their lives. They just want to take it out on others and feel "taken care of". I guess that's where I come in...to do the taking care part.
Well, I just want to say thanks to everyone who writes every day and tells us to keep on keepin' on, or that we rock or just thanks.
Thanks for "taking care of me/us". You all make me feel so much better about the world.

Well, what can we say...

We spent the whole weekend filming and everything turned out greeeeat!!! Even if we did pull a 21 hour shooting day on Saturday and we got NO sleep, we're incredibly happy with the way everything turned out. It was nice to get back to true guerilla style filmmaking and we had the help of friends and family...

We just want to say thanks to the following people:

Rob Givens - for loaning us his camera (we LOVE you!!!!)
Ethan Silverman - for loaning us the best location ever AND for putting up with our crew and all our extras for the longest night of filming ever!!!
Ian Sherrington - for running around with us and being a kick ass DP (and for the lighting kit!)
Olivia Ramo - for showing up in between and after shifts to act for us.
Cherrae Stuart - for being the best, most supportive (and gorgeous) friend/actor we know!!!
Ian Bloom - for the extras lights
Drew Coombs - for driving all that way to play the best Cooch ever!!!
Phil & Justin - for stepping in when we needed you most!
Vickie Hannah - for stepping up and playing Marlene for us again
Mr. Wayne Crawford - ;) just thank you... We loved you for Valley Girl. We love you even more now ;)

From here, we'll be catching up on e-mail, sending out the shirts/undies, cutting the trailer and the interviews (COMING SOON!!!), doing more print interviews and just trying to survive on less than 5 hours of sleep each night! ;)

Side note: Thanks to whomever it was that announced heroine films at the ashevile drag show last week. We heard about it, but don't know how it happened!!

Also, look for the gladdest thing trailer at the next Drag it in, Drag it out show in Durham (hopefully)! We're working on it...

You all have been soooo supportive and it was so amazing to get the sweet e-mails while we were doing the hard days of the shoot. It kept us moving!

Well...the show was great last night! Cuntry Kings rock! Just want to say thanks to the Cuntry Kings for announcing the heroine films website to their overwhelmingly large audience last night.

29 yrs...eeeek!

29 years old - eeeek!

Well this weekend was a bit hectic.

Tho, amanda and alex are loves!

Meetings, meetings, meetings.

We've been getting so much support and love from all over the world. It's humbling. I can't express how it feels to have mothers, brothers, sisters, lovers, fans writing us to tell us about their lives, to show their support, encourage us, etc. We've had people amazing people all over the globe offer to hold fundraisers, pass out flyers, spread the word. All in one week.

I just want to say thanks. It means so much to us. We're so excited about the trailers and the media release. two more weeks and counting! the beaters and her-undies are being sent out this week and to all the amazing people who donated just because - WE LOVE YOU!!!

On that note:My grandmother (nan) always told me that she was 29 - every year she had a birthday, she was 29. I guess this is it! I'm 29 forever... ;) and lovin' it!love you all!

We've had some amazing and touching responses already. I can't even believe how awesome some of the women who have stepped up to support us are! We have a woman who is trying to get a group together in Edinburgh, Scotland to do a fundraiser for us, which makes her one of my fav people of all time! (and a lot teary eyed...I just can't believe how amazing some people are)Thank you so much to all of you who have already donated, gotten shirts and undies and passed out fliers. You are all truly wonderful.
